A change may be brewing among planning leaders of Sherwood. Among some, there is a desire to require stricter building standards so Sherwood looks more appealing. On the other hand, those stricter standards do come at a higher building cost.

Millions of dollars’ worth of home and commercial construction has taken place in Sherwood this year, but the amount is down substantially, by about 61 percent, from 2010 levels.

A group of mostly Maumelle residents has started a petition drive in an effort to stop what it calls the overdevelopment of the fast-growing eastern boundary of Maumelle and the western edge of North Little Rock running along Maumelle Boulevard.
